Niacin Detox - Does It Work?
When considering a body detox and cleanse, you may come across something called a Niacin detox. How a niacin detox works, is to dilate the blood vessels and decrease cholesterol levels in the body. The active ingredient of Niacin that helps boost circulation and blood flow is nicotinic acid and this is wrapped up in essentially a B vitamin that is soluble in water.
How a niacin detox works
Normally you will find that most of the bad toxins will be situated in the fatty tissues around the body that are hard to get at. However, a niacin flush detox dilutes the blood vessels, this facilitates the blood flow so that the niacinic acid can then get to the toxins in the fatty tissue via the blood capillaries and flush them out of the body.
The benefit of a Niacin detox is that it can reach the smallest of capillaries that can become blocked as they are so small. If they are blocked, they are obviously not doing their job and may deprive the major organs of a certain amount of oxygen and nutrients and increase the likelihood of toxins building up. A knock-on effect of Niacin is to reduce the level of cholesterol which in turn will go some way towards the prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
On the down side, there is likely to be a temporary growth in the natural production of histamines which may irritate the skin but this should pass and drinking plenty of water will help this. If you would like to call it a ‘down side’, a niacin detox should be used in conjunction with exercise and a healthy diet.
Some Niacin detox procedures may not use nicotinic acid which is the agent that is primarily responsible for a good detox, just make sure that your detox does in fact contain nicotinic acid among the ingredients.
As with anything that you place in your body, you would be wise to consult a physician beforehand, especially if you are on any form of medication or have an ongoing condition.
